I have been developing an Access 2000 database for the past 2-3 years.
So far Ive kept it to Access 2000 and it requires the Access 2000
runtime module to run on Customer's PCs

What would be involved if i upgraded to Access XP or even 2003? Do
these versions have runtime modules or something else.

The minumum spec i need to run the DB on is Windows 98

TIA

Doug

Both versions have a Developer's Edition to make runtime modules.

Most upgrading is painless. You do not even have to change formats as the
Jet 2000 format is the default. If you re-write using some of the later
features, you obviously will need the later formats.

Access 2003 requires Windows 2000 or later. You could develop using Access
2003, but if you want to deploy to users running Windows 98, you'll need to
deploy an Access 2002 or Access 2000 runtime, which means not using any of
the new features in Access 2003 that were not supported in the earlier
version.

All things considered, if you need to support Windows 98, you're probably
better off with Access 2002 *if* you can still get the Developer Edition.
The developer editions tend to become scarce quite soon after the release of
a new version. If you can't get the Office XP Developer Edition, you'll need
to stick with Access 2000 until you can drop support for Windows 98.
