Tables slow to open for Access database on a Network Drive

My network administrators recently changed the hardware for our Network Drive
that contains many databases with which I work, along with a few other
individuals in my office.

Prior to this change the databases, which still were on a Network Drive,
would open the tables very quickly -- essentially instantaneously.

Now when I "click on" the table in Access (a local table in the database,
not a linked table), I must wait approx. 70 seconds for it to open.

The database itself opens rather quickly.

This performance problem occurs even when I am the only person in the office
accessing the database.

I am using MS Office Access 2003 (11.8166.8172) SP3. My desktop PC has
Windows XP Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2).

Does anyone have any idea what I might be able to do to reduce the time
required to open tables? (It seems to happen with all tables, linked as well
as local.)

P.S. This slow opening seems to be true for only a few of the Access
databases on this network drive. All the other databases I use on that
network drive do not seem to have any reduced performance as a result of the
drive changes.

What could cause such a problem?

If links for some tables I am NOT opening are bad (because I didn't update
them), could that slow down the performance of opening any table in the
database?

Much to my surprise, when I fixed the links to tables in other Access
databases (whose link names were affected by the Network Drive change, that
included a renaming of the drive) all tables in the database opened quickly!

Let's call this issue Closed.
