Tables and Labels

Word 2000 - I have an address list containing mailing labels that was entered alphabetically in a table . I would like to insert a new address in my multi column mailing list and keep my list alphabetical. How can I accomplish this? I'm trying to avoid using mail merge. Word Perfect had a feature to do this and Word is much better so I'm sure it should be easy to do......right???

Convert the labels back to a data file - add the record, then merge again -
