I am trying to convert some 2003 files that contain tables. When I convert
them the cell properties are correct but then when I save the 2007 file and
reopen them the properties are incorrect. I then try to change the
properties and they keep reverting to the incorrect properties. The first
column has the correct settings but subsequent columns are all wrong. We
really don't want to recreate the tables as we have about 800 of the files.
Please help..

Hi feltsdolls,

Have you updated both Office 2003 and Office 2007 with the latest service packs?

I am having similar problems and I did upgrade to latest service pack. Any
suggestions.

The left and right cell margins are changing from 0" to .05" and .08
respectively. When I initially convert it it does fine until I close the
file and reopen it. Then even if i go in and manually change them, once I
close the file and reopen it they go right back to .05 and .08

Hi,

I'm unable to reproduce that behaviour (Word 2007 & 2000), but I did find another anomoly - saving a document with a table having a
0cm left margin in docx format forces the margin to become 0.01cm.

I guess the problem is not in the conversion. We tried creating a table from
scratch in 2007 and the cell properties keep changing. It accepts 0" for the
left and right margins but then reverts to something else..not always the
same. It looks fine until I close the file and reopen it. Is there some
global setting that I need to change?

Hi Barbara,

I belive there's a problem in the docx converter used by Word 2000 - 2003, so iut's not likely to be something you can set a file
property (eg a compatability setting) to overcome.

-- But even when I recreate the tables in 2007 format the table cell
properties won't stick. :(
