Tab through fields

I have a letterhead template and I want to protect the top half so that the
references and the addressee name and address are always in the same place. I
would like to do that by making them allowing edits of fields but not to move
their position. I have seen it done by making the tab button move from field
to field, although I don't think there was a table. However, I only want the
tab button to behave like that in the top part of the letter. In the main
body it must act normally, ie. inserting tabs.

I am using Word 2007 and Vista.

Thanks!

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm and
especially the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to..
Neither the article nor the tutorials were written for Word 2007, but, once
you find the forms tools in Word 2007, everything should be pretty much the
same.

To get to these tools, you must first display the Developer tab (if you
haven't already); this is a selection somewhere in the Word Options (Office
button). Once you've done that, you can look for Developer | Controls |
Legacy Tools | Text Form Field, Developer | Controls | Legacy Tools | Check
Box, and so on (all the buttons from the former Forms toolbar).

Thank you for that. I have had a look bit it seems that it is for proper
forms. Will it allow for only part of a document to be fields for references
and address but other parts to be free for writing the body of the letter?
