tab settings

Can anyone help? In some documents, I can only move tabs on 1/8" increments.
Is there a setting somewhere that can be changed to allow tabs to be moved
on 1/16" increments?

Hold the ALT key while dragging tab stops; this should give you more
control over their placement.

Alternatively, use the Tab dialog box to set tab stops. Note, however,
that you may have to remove and then recreate a tab stop in the dialog
box; it won't allow you to redefine a tab stop position close to an
existing one.

Thanks for the tip, but I still can't get the tabs to do what I want them do
do. To set a tab on the top ruler, I simply click on the ruler in the
approximate spot that I want it and then drag it to the position that works
best. Then, when I want to move the stops to change the look of the
document, I drag it to a different position. On some documents, it allows me
to move the tabs along the ruler in 1/16" increments, but on others it will
only allow me to leave them on 1/8" increments. There must be a setting
somewhere that will change that default ruler property, or maybe it has to do
with the template for the document. I hope this explains better what I'm
trying to do, because it is very frustrating to have documents behave
differently from one another. Thanks, sbmike.

The Drawing Grid controls where tabs "snap to" the ruler. To modify
the Drawing Grid, turn on your Drawing toolbar (View/Toolbars) and on
the Draw menu select Grid and change the Horizontal spacing.
