Hi all..having XP with SP3 loaded system ..problem facing is that system gets
loggoff after login..no policy has set..giving same problem in safe mode
also..any suggestions.

I am also facing the same problem, login in the account and desktop appear
for a second and then return to login, same problem in safe mode & restore to
last known configuration

I would slave the hard drive to a working computer and then use the AV and
malware programs on that computer to scan the problem drive to see if
"nasties" are the culprit.

Open the Computer Box, Disconnect the Hard Drive, Remove it from the Box,
Take it to another Computer, Connect it to the other Computer as an extra
drive.

If you are not confident in you ability to muck about with the innards of a
PC, then take it to a shop.

There is a known fix for this issue which requires using the XP CD to boot
the computer, and then running Recovery Console commands to replace the
userinit.exe file on your hard drive. If you have an XP CD and are confident
you know how to do things at a command prompt let me know and I will talk
you through the procedure.

I said slave the drive to a *working* computer. What I do is pull the side
panels off of both PCs. On the working PC, I remove the ribbon cable going
to CDRom drives and put it on the malfunctioning hard drive. I then connect
a power wire from the working PC to the old drive and boot the working PC.
If the cables are not long enough, pull the drive out of the case and then
attach it.

i asked from my kids, they became agree to lost all the files saved in the
computer, then i tried to format the hard drive and then reload windows XP,
but Viruses has done a lot of things in that computer. the CD is not felt by
computer. it means the CD Drive which normally appears in my computer folder
is not appearing. like my laptop which i have rectified earlier.
but in this condition, hard to install any program, unless i slave the
hard drive as you have suggested.
if there is any other means, kindly suggest me.

In order for the system CD to be read during boot up, you have to go into
the BIOS (look at the boot screen to see what key to press to enter setup)
and set the cd player to be the first boot device. Exit and save the
setting change. Boot with the system CD in the player and follow the on
screen prompts to format the partition.

Hi
But How to get into BIOS ?

I have tried, a screen appears to press F8,
After that a screen appeared
Windows Advanced Option Menu
Please Select an option
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA Mode
Last Known Good Configuration [ your most recent settings that worked ]
Directory Services Restore Mode [ windows domain controllers only ]
Debugging Mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure

Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices menu

Please select one and Enter

we have tried all, but none is going to BIOS

What to do now ?

Ferasat

At that point it's too late to get in the BIOS. To get in the BIOS you
have to press a key long before you get to the Windows Advanced Option
Menu. You need to press a key just as the computer starts to boot, when
you first see anything on the screen you will have to press a key to get
in the BIOS (also often called "Setup"). If you pay close attention you
should see information on the screen telling you which key to press,
common keys are F1, F2, Del or the Escape key. You have to press the
right key almost as soon as the computer starts to boot. If you give us
the make and model number of your computer someone reading here may be
familiar with it and they may be able to offer more help.

Now i have entered into BIOS setup utility
There is 6 tab namely Main, Advanced, Security, Power, Boot, Exit
Then i checked all, but finally
went to Boot Tab, then Selected "Boot Devices Priority" and press Enter
then selected "First Boot Device" then Press Enter
Then I need to select ATAPI CD-ROM and then press Enter
And then Save the Changes
And then exit
Insert the Windows XP CD

Yes. When you reboot the computer it should boot to the Windows XP CD.

Hi John

Thank You very much for your kind support . I have finished formatting and
reinstalling windows XP.

Q1...But one thing is missing, that i could not get the " Sound card Drive"
from internet. how to solve this ?

And one more thing, if you are not so busy.
Q2...If i would have slave the hard disk and scan for antivirus & malware,
if it do not solve the problem, then what i need to do further ?

Ferasat

q1. What kind of sound card do you have or what is the make and model of
your computer?

q2. You just formatted the drive--there should be no malware or viruses to
detect.

Hi Ron

Now i found it, it needs "Multimedia Audio Controller" to be installed.

Computer is manufactured by MDG- Toronto, Canada , i checked the its
website too, but could not get the Controller.

Ferasat

I did not see a driver download section which is kind of weird. I'd email
(e-mail address removed) and ask them where you can get the audio driver for your PC.
If no success, read on.

I assume that a driver CD did not come with your PC and since you tried the
web site, try some free software (Google for: Belarc Advisor) to see what
it detects for a sound card. Or, open your computer and see if you have a
sound card or if it is on board the mobo. If a sound card, identify what
writing is on it and check it out with Google. You may have to pull the
card to read it. If there are wires running to the mobo, check out the
writing on the chips and Google it.

Hi Ron

I have tried both.

I checked inside the box, there is no any external sound card .

and then i tried Belarc Advisor, Multimedia was not detected.

Ferasat

It sounds like you have on board sound so you will need to look at chips on
the mobo and google the information they contain.
