SysTray Management

Perhaps I'm one of the few who resents clutter in the SysTray, but I'm
hopeful someone has a solution. Though I have used the
less-than-straight-forward "Hide the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the system
tray" setting (if I didn't hide it ON the system tray, where else could I
"hide" it? How about simple English like, "Display SysTray icon?"), this
thing is worse than Freddie!!! Every time a scheduled scan runs, it comes
back! It doesn't even matter if it's a Friday! Does anyone know how to kill
this thing for good? Wooden stake? Silver bullet? I would even hang garlic
on my monitor if I found out it would help!

I have MS AntiSpyware run a scheduled scan every night. The icon never
appears in my System Tray unless I select it and open it. Then it remains
visible for a day or two and then hides itself as it should. There must be
something else going on in your system.

(Real encouraging, huh?)

You are describing the functionality of the beta1 product. This is a bug.
I don't have a workaround for it, I'm afraid.

CaribbeanBlues is describing the behavior that happens when you've
explicitly set the system tray icon not to show--this is an option within
Microsoft Antispyware. It works fine, until a scheduled scan occurs, and
then you get the icon back. This is unrelated to the tray-hiding issues
which also have their bugs.
