I have recieved a system alert saying that i have unwanted spyware. This
flashing question mark on the task bar will not go away. When i hit the
question mark it required me to buy thier program. How do I get htis out of
my system?

Larry,

Download & install Spybot Search & Destroy for FREE:

http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html

Instal, update & scan your system

Delete anything in red that Spybot finds,

If you use Advanced Mode (Mode menu | Advanced) for Spybot, scroll down to
TOOLS & see System Startup

You will see the rogue program listed there. Uncheck it...

Hi

Try searching for any spyware you may have on your system with the following
programs:

Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com
Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com

Try SpyWareBlaster to stop intrusions:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Also see the following links:

http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Also run a virus-check on your system with the latest definitions for your
anti virus program

You are infected with some variant of the Smitfraud trojan. The message
you see is from the trojan.

Go through the preparatory steps here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Then do the specific removal steps here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Smitfraud_Trojan

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

Standard caveat: If the procedures look too complex - and there is no
shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigStoreUSA). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at
removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested
that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all your data backed
up before you take the machine into a shop.

Try Ad-Aware from download.com and Windows Defender from Microsoft to get rid
of it. It's spyware/adware. I've seen it before.

Larry,

Malke is promoting things on his own website

WTF does this mean? "Promoting things"? How would my paying for
bandwidth on a website designed to help people - a website that carries
no ads - possibly promote things?

Look before you spew next time. There are no ads. There are no
downloads. There are no "click-throughs". Yes, I do tech support for a
living but I have never gotten any business from the MS newsgroups
because this is a *local* business. Helping some guy like Larry in
Marina Del Rey or Stockholm isn't putting any money in my pocket.

And if you had actually looked at my website before slandering me, you
would have seen that "his own website" is incorrect.
