System32

Hi: I have just formatted and re-installed XP, got all the updates and
loaded back my programs.

But when I restart, the system loads, then I have to click on my name, it
then loads further, and then a window opens, headed "System32" and displays
the contents of that folder on the screen, and sits there. I have to click
the "X" to close it.

Can someone tell me how to stop this window from opening?

Many thanks...MikeG in Erie

This can be caused by a blank entry, such as can be left behind by
an incomplete program removal, in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and/or
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys. It can also
be caused by an entry in these same keys that starts with a " / ."
