WHen comp. is turned on, everything loads regularly until it reaches
the point of "Windows 2000 is starting up", and then it stops when the
bar is full.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

Can you get into Safe Mode? If yes, see what is starting with Windows.
Win2k doesn't have msconfig so you'll need to look at the registry run
entries directly or use third-party software such as Mike Lin's Startup
Control Manager.

If you can't get into Safe Mode, can you do Last Known Good
Configuration (don't remember if this is in Win2k or not)?

You may wish to post in a Win2k group since this one is for WinXP.
