I use Norton Ghost to backup my hadr drive and have turned
off System Restore in my XP Home edition. I still have
the System Volume Information Folder in the root of the
HD. Is it possible to delete this folder?

TIA,
DVS

That folder is important. If your ever re-enable the System Restore, I do
not know if it would re-create it or not.

I don't intend ever re-enabling System Restore. I have
redundant Hard drives in a seperate location with current
image of HD. I simply would like to know if it is
possible to delete the folder, and if so, how?

If your system is formatted to FAT-32, you can remove the attibutes
and delete the contents of the folder and then the folder itself.

If you're using NTFS, the folder will re-appear again after it's
deleted.

There will be a residual folder, which should have nothing in it if SR
is turned off. Check and delete any content, don't bother about any
empty folder
