System Volume Information: access

How do I access the System Volume Information folder under XP HOME. I want
to scan it with my virus program as there's a virus there. However I don't
think the scanner will see it judging from past experience.

So probably more important, how do I delete the contents of the System
Volume Information. It's just used for restoring right?

Thanks for your attention and any help you can give me.

If you have a virus in the SVI folder then you will have to turn off system
restore and then turn it back on again.

Right click [My Computer] [Properties] then click on System Restore tab.
Put a check in the box for Disable Restore on all drives.
Click apply, then Reboot your PC.
After the system reboots, navigate to the System Restore tab and turn it
back on. Click apply.
Navigate to [System Tools] Usually under accessories menu, [Restore...] and
choose [Create a Restore Point]
Provide a name for the new restore point.

Greetings --

To clear viruses from the "System Volume Information," simply turn
off the System Restore feature (Start > All Programs > Accessories >
System Tools > System Restore, System Restore Settings), reboot, and
then re-enable System Restore, if you like. This will delete all of
your Restore Points, including the corrupted one(s), and allow you
start with a clean slate.
