After installing Norton Antivirus on my laptop, the icons in the system tray
fail to display. They can be displayed by ending the Explorer Process in the
Task Manager and restarting it, but that is not convenient. I've even
uninstalled the Norton Software, but the System Tray still behaves the same.
I have the appropriate icons set to Always Show in the properties of the task
bar but this also is not resolving the problem. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

Hi,

Have you tried a System Restore to a date prior to the initial installation
of the Norton Software?

Hi,
Yes, I've restored back to several check points, but this also fails to
resolve the problem.

Thanks

Hi,

Symantec has several clean up utilities for the mess their programs leave
behind when uninstalled. You may want to try one of them. The problem is
that the installation routine made some (actually many) system changes, and
pinpointing the exact one that is causing the problem would be difficult at
best. Proper removal of the software that initally caused the problem might
help resolve it.

Hello,
Thanks you for the seggestion. I have made sure that all remnants of any
Symantic Products are removed from the system, and I'm still having the
issue. Could it be an issue with Explorer? Since once Explorer is restarted,
the correct icons appear in the System Tray.
