System tray icons missing

I don't know. I have several programs running that should
be in the system tray. I want them there, I want them
visible. When I right click on the tray, then go to
properties it opens the Taskbar and Start Menu
Properties. I then click on Hide inactive icons and click
the Customize button.

There are two sections: Current Items and Past Items. All
the icons I want to see are in Past Items. If I click the
Behavior and change them to Always Show, nothing changes,
even on multiple reboots. How do I make these show up.

And I've never really had to do this before so has this
Current Items and Past Items in the Customize
Notifications ALWAYS been there?

Oh, but try and make that MSN Messenger go away!
