My Windows 2000 machine has suddenly starting beeping
whenever I receive an email or when an Outlook reminder
pops up. I have disabled all the system sounds in the
control panel and muted the volume on the speakers.
However this has not worked. The 'Beep' is coming from
the base unit itself.

How do I turn this irritating sound off?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Controll pannel, then go to system, click the hardware tab, click the device
manager button, under the view pulldown menu there is an "show hidden
devices" option. After you choose that there will be a grey triangle that
appears called "non plug and play drivers", expand that and then double click
on beeb, click on the driver tab, now under current status click the stop
button, and under startup in the pulldown choose disable. I have a friend
who spells his name like you, he is the only one i have met that does that
and his last name starts with a C... cool!
