system shuts down by itself

I cannot figure out why my system keeps automatically
shutting down. It does it at least once or twice a day.
I have done a system scan with norton anivirus it is not
finding any viruses. I am running out of ideas. Could
someone please give me some advise on what I could do.

I appreciate any input.

It may be overheating. Many systems have monitoring software that will shut
the machine down if the temperature reaches a set level. Check your software
if you have it. Also check air intakes and fans for dust/dirt/lint buildup.
If necessary remove the case cover and clean all fans and heat sinks. Make
sure there is plenty space around the case for air circulation.
