system shutdown

I am a complete computer idiot! HELP. I keep getting
kicked off the internet and the computer shuts completely
down. Running Windows XP. Shut downs seem to be for two
different reasons: 1-NT Authority System "Remote
Procedure Call Service terminated unexpectedly" It gives
me a one minute countdown to save data. 2-Second reason
results from the following: "The COM+ Event System
detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 800706BF (and also same number
with BA on end) from line 44 of
d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tie rl\eventsystemobj.cpp"
Can anyone help? Bless you!!! THANKS

Disconnect the WinXP machine from the internet!

On another PC, see:

Before You Connect a New Computer to the Internet
http://www.cert.org/tech_tips/before_you_plug_in.html

Courtesy of MVP Bruce Chambers:

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first installed the
KB824146 Hotfix, without having first installed an antivirus application
with current virus definition files, and before enabling a firewall, you're
very likely to get infected from any of the thousands of PCs on the Internet
that are constantly broadcasting the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only
takes a few seconds of exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches, and
removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the next RPC
countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make sure you've
enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more intrusions while
getting the updates/patches/tools.
