system restore

i have started using windows vista but when I try system restore a message
comes up saying that due to an error the system cannot be restored. Can
anyone help please

Are you using Norton Anti Virus? If so, then turn it off, restore, then turn
it back on.

Tried that did not work also turned off windows firewall . The message is
unspecified error occured during system restore. did not turn both the above
off at same time will try that maybe it will make a difference. thanks
