System Restore

Anyone know of any free software that does the same thing that windows system
restore does? I just can't count on windows system restore because I keep
getting corrupted restore points. I flushed out all my restore points on 7/4
and today tried to restore to that date and it didn't work. I don't know how
that restore point got corrupted that fast.

I read this in the System Restore FAQ:

"Restore points are saved until the hard disk space System Restore reserves
is filled up. As new restore points are created, old ones are deleted. If
you turn off System Protection (the feature that creates restore points) on
a disk, all restore points are deleted from that disk. When you turn System
Protection back on, new restore points are created."

I was not aware that one could manually 'flush' old restore points? How did
you do that?

I am and there are NO restore points when I boot into Vista.

The OP complained about corrupted restore points, I *think* if he were
dual booting the restore points would be gone rather than corrupted
after booting into XP and back to Vista.

Anyway, that's how it works on my system, can anyone confirm this?

Hello John,

Use disk cleanup to remove all but the last restore point via the 'more
options' tab.
