System Restore

I installed an updated program that was good in the pass. When I ran the
program it did some strange things and the System, windowsXP home, shutdown,
I when on reboot to do a System Restore but all my restore points were gone.
If I make a restore point on other reboots they are not saved. What can one
do the fix problems in the System Restore?

Sorry to be so long getting back to you the last week I have had a lot on my
plate.
The program that screwed every thing up is Belarc Advisor v7.2. I had use
this program on my other older computer using ver 6.1 work great at that
time. Might be hard ware problem as I run a mirror double hard drive system.
