system restore

When trying to use system restore, all previous dates result in the same
message-"system restore cannot retore to this date. Can anyone tell me what
to do?

You will probably have to turn off System Restore, reboot the
computer, and then turn System Restore back on again. This will
remove all of the existing restore points but new ones should be
usable. You should test the System Restore after doing this to make
sure that it works. And if you rely on it frequently then you should
test it periodically, such as once a week.

Here is my prescription for a simple way to test that System Restore
is working.

1. Create a new desktop shortcut of any kind.
2. Create a new manual system restore point and name it Test or
similar.
3. Delete the shortcut you created in step 1.
4. Launch System Restore and choose the restore point you created in
step 3.

The deleted shortcut should reappear on your desktop.
