system restore

it wont let me restore to any restore points at all. the comp switched itself
off and when it came back on all start menu items were wiped. this happened
during idleness without any imput. can anyone help???

WinXP won't let me restore either.It's either not creating a restore point
or it's missing files.It goes through all the processes of restoreing,but
when it ask for me to log in,it says no changes have been made to this
computer and asks if I want to go to another restore point.If you find uot
anything giv me a ring& I do the same for you!!! kixnu
