System Restore Settings (Drive Usage)

Hi,

To reduce the max amount of space system restore uses I reset the reg
key at:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore
\DiskPercent=3

To 3 as you can see, so my slider for System Restore shows use 3% max
of the drive.

My drive is 74.5 gb. When I check the size properties of "c:\System
Volume Information" is shows as:

Size: 6.29gb
Size on Disk: 3.36gb

Can anyone explain this? Does the "size" show larger as this is
uncompressed, but it's really only taking 3.36gb up? Also, 3% of
74.5gb should be more like 2.2gb - can anyone help explain this? Did I
adjust the wrong registry key?

Thanks.

You should not need to make a registry change the System Restore disk
space allocation!

Right click your My Computer icon on the Desktop and select System
Restore. Place the cursor on your C drive select Settings but this time
find the slider and drag it to the left until it reads 700 mb and exit.
When you get to the Settings screen click on Apply and OK and exit.

The Restore Point Snapshot files are compressed.

Hope this helps.

Gerry - thanks, but the reason I'm looking at registry keys is so as
to update this setting remotely on several clients.

Bert - thanks for the update also. Anyway to tell exactly what amount
of space EFS and Indexing Service are using?

I just have a feeling there is maybe more to it than just adjusting
the one setting, or that Restore Points must be cleaned>???

Thanks...
