It says the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 is needed and I cannot
make a Service Pack 2 CD because my Windows XP Home Edition has some bad
spots on it. I tried just using the regular Windows XP CD and it says
"installation failed". I tried typing the whole rundll32.exe
advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf and it says the same
thing. Now what do I do?

Hi,

Normally reinstalling System Restore will fix this. But doing so will
delete all existing restore points. So try running System Restore from
Safe Mode First.

I have two. One is an OEM that come with my computer. I found out that was
NOT a legal copy so I also had to go buy one. Which one do you want me to use?

It was bought before there were any service packs and I cannot make another
one like I said before in my previous post because my present CDs are so
sratched up that they will not work.

If the disk is physically damaged, then you will need to purchase
another one.

I am NOT buying another Windows program! It is ridiculous how much money I
have wasted on Windows programs. And done without food to do it. I know a
place that can fixed scratched CDs about 250 miles from here and when I get
the money for gas they said they will fit it for me for free.

New discovery. There was 6 svchost.exe running in my task manager. I stopped
one that was using 60,000K and all of a sudden my system restore works. I
went to get help on finding and fixing the problem. It said run the command
"Tasklist /SVC" which it will not let me do. It also told me two places to
look. One place does not exist and the other I found but don't know what to
do with all the entries under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Svchost. I
have run my antivirus program (AntiVir) everyday and my antispyware program
Ad-Adware SE but it hasn't caught anything unusual. What do I do now?
