My computer had the downloaderb.Dluca virus and I delete
Registry files as indicated by Symantec to remove the
virus. It seemed to work. I had to disable System Restore
to remove the virus. Now, I cannot access System Restore.
I get a message that says, "The procedure entry point
RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestore could not be located
in dynamic link library". It then says something about
rundll32.exe. How can I get my system restore to work
again. Can I reinstall my version of XP

Thank you,

Sean

Hello!
There are two ways:-

1st method:-
-----------
Insert XP original bootable CD with 1st boot preference as CD Rom and enter
the Windows setup. But do not choose "To repair a windows xp installation
using the Recovery Console R."
Rather select the xp installation you want to repair from the list and
press R to start. If Repair is not one of the options, read this warning!
"setup will copy the necessary files to the harddrive and reboot.Do not
press any key to boot from CD when the message appears.Setup will continue
as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will
remain intact. But you have to reapply service pack after installation.

2nd method:-

Hi Sean...I have the same problem...did you find the
magic cure...could you pass it on ...I would sure be
gratefull...thanks

SEAN, I don't know your system but a system recovery is
the only way I know to get back Restore. Recycle bin also
has this problem. If at ALL POSSIBLE run a non-destruct.
Now try this and if it doesn't work you will have to run
a full destruct. Save your work on CD and reinstall 1 at
a time. If you see things going wrong then you will know
that folder is corrupt. It is a good idea to backup your
system everyday like years ago when everything ran on
machine language or DOS 1.0
Good Luck
