system restore not showing calendar

hi guys! away for a long time. now i am back with a problem.
had some virus residing in the system volume information folder. removed all
the contents of the folder after making it 'unhidden". meanwhile seeing that
a large amount of space was being consumed by this folder in all the drives.
removed all but the latest( by date) files in each drive and emptied the
folder on c:\ as i was sure that the system was in good shape.
now after about 3 months, i have gone into the system restore from
accessories--system tools etc. and when i try to see the restore points by
choosing the "restore my system to an earlier time " option, i get an eror
saying
runtime error
line 212
"calgrid"is undefined.
do you wish to debug?
with yes and no as the options.
the calendar is blank with no dates.
if i try to create a new restore point it is created as usual but if i then
go back to system restore and try to access it, i get the same error.
if i go to C:\System Volume
Information\_restore{335F62E2-CC70-4432-B674-C948EF40A483} i find that rp 21
rp22 etc are there and i can see from the properties that they are created
as usual-automatically as well as manually.
what is happening and what is the work around?
thankful for the advice

You probably got it in a mess. The only safe action you can take with
those folders is to delete *everything* in them or nothing. Only
exception is Disk Cleanup's More Option to delete all but the latest
point. I would empty it out now and let it start clean. System
Restore. Check 'Disable System Restore, and OK, reboot. Now have
Folder Options - View set to show Hidden files, and *not* Hide Protected
mode ones and delete everything in the System Volume Information folder
on each drive

Start SR up again, and I suggest reviewing the settings for each drive.
There is not much point having it enabled on data drives, and on ones
with System or Programs I would reduce the space allotted if more than
say 1GB - I use 500MB, the minimum is 200 which will only handle maybe a
week of points. But the default of 12% of a drive seems too much for
its own good on modern large drives

The point about a blank calendar though, see

well folks! i did mess it up nicely. i don't know what i did but i did it
well.
i had seen all the articles mentioned but was a bit confused. seeing both
of you mention that article abt blank calender, i copied all the text as
advised and merged it in the registry.
hey presto! my calender is back. so, probably i am not the first to goof up,
huh!
anyway thanks to you guys for lighting the way.
