SYSTEM RESTORE FAILS

I have tried five different attempts on doing a system restore, using restore
points already set within Windows, but every time I try, when my computer
restarts, I get an error message stating that "Windows failed to restore your
computer to this point", despite the fact that the point I tried to restore
it to was done by System Restore itself. I tried with five different points,
and every one of them give me the same error.

I am having problems, which started today, with Internet Explorer, where I
can only open ONE single IE window at any given time (meaning if I go to any
site, and need another IE window open as well, the first one gets closed for
the second one to open), so I attempted a System Restore since this didnt
happen last night when I was online. But, I was unable to do the restore
point, and now can't figure out what is wrong.

I previously had SP2 installed, but it caused more headaches and heartaches
than it was worth so I uninstalled it, and any problems (ie, runtime errors,
etc.) that I had with it dissipated; but, now a month later, this is
happening.

Any suggestions or ideas on what I can do to solve at least the system
restore point with this?

Hi

One or more of the System Restore files could have been corrupted - try
turning SR off/on - but I'm afraid that you will lose any existing
checkpoints:

Right click My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab.
Enable 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' and reboot your PC. After
that 1st reboot go back into SR and disable 'Turn off System Restore on all
drives' and reboot your PC again. After that 2nd reboot you should have one
new SR checkpoint.
