When I try and open the System Restore tab from the My
Computer System Properties, I get an error message saying
that Run a DLL as an ap has encountered a problem and
needs to be closed. I get this error twice, and then the
system properties window closes. Any ideas?

Hi!
if that dll file is framedyn.dll then make the user copy
the framedyn.dll file from \Windows\System32\WBEM directory
to the \Windows\System32 directory.

I also have the same exact problem that I think appeared after the last
security update. I have been unable to find any help on this problem either
at this newsgroup or via Microsoft.

I think I have cured this problem. What I did was the following:

1. Run msconfig and uncheck System Restore under the Services tab.
2. Reboot the computer
3. Run msconfig again and reset the boot configuration back to the normal
startup sequence and make sure System Restore is checked under the services
tab.
4. Reboot and make sure it works.

I noticed from your other post, the dll. files you were having trouble with
were the same as I had.

This appears to have cured the problem for me.
