system restarts

I have two things going on with my system. I am not sure
if they are related or unrelated.

1. A windows based icon with "unresolve" pops up
numberous times and cannot be eliminated by pressing "ok"
(note that this is not an adware pop-up - it comes up
through windows when I am not online)

2. My computer will occassionally restart (happens mostly
when I am on-line but it has occured when the system was
running idle.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Look in the Event Viewer when one of these spontaneous reboots occurs and tell us the accompanying message there.
