Hello,

Anyone else use System Mechanic?

I used the optimized HD defrag option in System Mechanic 4. My HD is a
Western Digital 40G HD (8mb cache). It contains about 10G of data.

I started the optimized defrag on Friday afternoon - but on Monday morning -
yes, 4 nights later - it still had not finished. SM does not give an
estimate on when it will complete. And yes, I have been checking the
computer to make sure it did not get stuck or something.

Cheers!

Time for a refund.

I upgraded to 5.0 and have fewer of these things
happening. I like the user friendliness of this thing,
but you may need to run Defrag on your Windows program
after you regain control.

That is rather disturbing, the entire drive could have been rewritten
dozens of times. Is the drive active the whole time? Anything running
in the background, a virus scanner or any Symantec product?

No, I turned off everything. I switched off my cable modem, turned off my
firewall, AV, and all unnecessary windows processes. Its just a poorly
written program I guess

Most disturbing. Mostly that some manager somewhere approved that thing
for sale.
