System Locks Up When Typing In Address Line

I am using Outlook 2007 (with Exchange). When I go to compose a message and
type in the address line, my systems locks up until matching addresses are
found and displays them in the autocomplete. If I type more letters, the
system locks up again. The wait has been as long as 30 seconds.

I have installed all Office and Windows XP updates.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

1) Exit Outlook
2) Do a search of the hard drive for *.nk2, make sure to search hidden and
system folders too.
3) Rename the file that is named after your profile.
4) Restart Outlook and send a few mails. It will take time for the nk2
file to rebuild (basically, it will take as long as it takes for you to
normally email people).
5) After you've sent some mail, keep an eye on it to make sure thatthings
seem to be working fine.

I'm going to guess it will and that there's some bit of corruption in the
nk2 file. I don't believe Microsoft provides any troubleshooting software
to try and fix it, or even publishes file specs so that an intrepid binary
spelunker could look for any oddness in the file. If you really care that
much, call MS and open a support inicident and do whatever it takes to get a
debug engineer to try and figure out whats wrong with your nk2 file. I
doube they'll be able to fix it, but they might be able to tell you what was
wrong with it =)

This fixed my problem, but the file was not recreated. And to be honest, I
am so happy to have outlook back that I don't care. Thank you!!!

So you've been emailing and the file hasn't been recreated yet?
