system info auditing

There is a command in XP which will give information on
software versions, dll versions, and other things. It
seems like a sort of auditing tool. Can anyone tell me
what the command for this is.
 
Are you thinking of msinfo? In XP it is found in the Accessories, System Tools folder and it is called Systm Information.
