system hang

Recently, whenever I go to save a document (word, excel, etc) that I recived
via email, and try to save it to my computer, my system hangs for a while
(about a min. or 2) and even says NOT RESPONDING. If I wait a little
while, it finally will let me hit teh drop down box to where I want to save
it.

No idea why. Haven't installed anything abnormal recently.

Any ideas? My system resources aren't being affected or anything.

Have you tried a system restore to before the problem started? Is the
system clean of malware and how do you check that?

Open My Computer and "Right click" on any unavailable drives and pick
Disconnect. (Office is waiting for the "unattached" drives to respond
and has to timeout before it gives you the list of what is available)

I found that I had some mapped drives that were no longer valid.
