Hi,
I'm having a few users experiencing an error when opening a file in any
program (i.e. office) via the File > Open menu route. If the network is
connected/ *not* disabled, randomly the system will "hang". It will recover
after about a minute, but does not respond to user interaction during this
time. If the system is disconnected from the network or the connection
*disabled* this does not happen at all.
The machines are fresh installs of XP Pro and older installs alike. There's
no pattern other than the time involved during the hang (seems to be the
same). They are connected to a W2k domain and have two to four mapped
shares(drives) to the same box. They also are all connected to the same
printer via a queue.
I'm pondering a reinstall of the domain controller, but I'm not sure thats
the reason and am trying to rule out hardware. Actual net access otherwise
never fails. Just seems to be this file open issue.
