Hi

I have a Win2K Server network (running a business
management system under SQL Server).

Three of the client PC's in the company (network of 30
PC's and four Macs) take FOREVER to start Win2K. I've
changed a NIC card, swapped out a hard drive and
reinstalled Windows 2K, all to no effect. There are no
consistent factors to the three PCs (other than the fact
that they're Dells) and they all worked fine at one time.

I'd love any ideas for a starting place.

Thanks

I would look in the event viewer (system) to see if any services are failing
to start. Boot delays are sometimes caused by waiting for a timeout to fail
some service.

Thanks Axel

Here's what I have in the event log:system

This from 1 AM in the morning (no one's here) and
categorized as a 'netlogon' error.
"Registration of the DNS
record '_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.printcraft.com. 600 IN SRV 0
100 389 logic_server.printcraft.com.' failed with the
following error:
DNS operation refused."

This from just before 1 person logged-in
"Registration of the DNS
record '_kerberos._udp.printcraft.com. 600 IN SRV 0 100 88
logic_server.printcraft.com.' failed with the following
error:
DNS operation refused."

Registration of the DNS record '_ldap._tcp.45c8acfd-b41c-
476d-aee7-d9753bbeb6e1.domains._msdcs.printcraft.com. 600
IN SRV 0 100 389 logic_server.printcraft.com.' failed with
the following error:
DNS operation refused.

Registration of the DNS
record '_kerberos._tcp.dc._msdcs.printcraft.com. 600 IN
SRV 0 100 88 logic_server.printcraft.com.' failed with the
following error:
DNS operation refused.

Netlogon errors like these will definitely cause startup delays, not to
mention other more serious AD problems. Check out this knowledge base
article and see if it resolves your issue:
