System freezes when exiting Excel :(

I have a new problem with MS Excel 2000 on Windows 98SE. My entire
computer freezes when I exit Excel.

I was having problems with VBA error messages when closing out of Excel
for awhile. Then those stopped.

Now when I exit out of Excel, my entire system freezes up and forces me
to reboot. There are no error messages for me to refer to. However, it
appears to be a RAM issue because when I do CNTRL-ALT-DEL, it tells me
that my resources are dangerously low - even if no other programs are
open.

This happens even if no Excel document is open and is just a blank
document so it's not related to a particular document.

I tried uninstalling Microsoft Office and reinstalling it but the
problem still exists.

I can still use the program and save documents but can't exit from the
program.

Any suggestions?

Try searching for a file called *.xlb, then deleting it. This is the toolbar
customisation file so you will lose any customisations but seeing as you have
tried uninstalling you would have expected that anyway. This file can get
corrupted and give the symptoms you outline.
