System Freeze momentarily

My Windows XP Prof on my HP regularily "freezes" for only a few seconds,
then lets me resume my task. this occurs like, every few minutes while I am
working, but only lasts like for 4-7 seconds usually. Any Ideas from anyone???

You need to determine what is running in the background. First, make
sure your computer is virus/malware-free:

If you are sure the computer is clean, do clean-boot troubleshooting:

Remove all spyware from your system.
