I have done this a few times but I forgot the sequence.
I have the system assembled. I plug in the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Now
do I have to do anything in the bios setup before I put the XP CD in and
boot it up or do I just do it.

Go into the bios on the first boot. Your HD's and memory will probably be
recognized, if not do an autodetect on the HD(s). Set your boot sequence to
boot from CDROM first. Depending on your system you may want to make some
other adjustments. Make sure you save on exit, plop in the XP CD and away
you go.
