System File Checker

I recently plugged in a new keyboard and windows SFC
popped up a requester to insert my windows disk - I cant find my
windows disk. How do I stop sfc from continually popping up on boot up?
I tried using the old keyboard but it still pops up.....

Hi,

Was your system preinstalled? If so, SFC may not have the correct location
of the I386 folder, as it was imaged onto the drive. The image points to an
optical drive (CD or DVD), but the I386 folder was probably placed on your
hard drive. Read this on correcting the issue:

My system was a restore disc (Dell) but I have no I386 folder on my
hard drive which looks like it contains the window install files ???

L:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386
L:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
L:\WINDOWS\system32\ReinstallBackups\0000\DriverFiles\i386
L:\WINDOWS\system32\ReinstallBackups\0002\DriverFiles\i386
there are very few cab files (if any) in these directories
I think Im going to have to borrow a WinXP disk.........

ps It just keeps asking for my WinXP disk no matter what path is in the
sourcepath string

Hi,

None of those, you probably don't have folder options set correctly as
described in the article.

nope
checked Show Hidden Files & folders
unchecked Hide extension for known file types
unchecked Hide protected operating system files
and before you say I might have deleted them my system has 120MB
of HD space and I've yet to run into space problems

put in a borrowed WinXP disk and it still says wrong CD

have you looked at the keyboard makers website for a keyboard
install/drivers ?
perhaps it will have the files you need
Or maaybe dig through Microsoft hardware downloads and see if they have
driver file for it.

solved it; winxp disk was faulty I managed to recreate one from
several corrupt disks I think my cd writer needs replacing
