Will a new/reinstall of my Windows XP Pro simplify

The best thing is to install XP from your hard drive - copy the XP CD-ROM to
your hard drive. (The i386 folder is essential).
Once you've installed XP from the hard drive you'll find SFC runs without
the endless prompts for the XP CD-ROM.
I've seen various solutions to rectify SFC's prompts for the XP CD-ROM -
registry edits to point SFC to a hard drive copy of the XP CD-ROM. These all
fail and still prompt for the XP CD-ROM regardless.
But installing XP from a hard drive copy of the XP CD-ROM seems to be the
only way to ensure that SFC will run without prompting you for the XP
CD-ROM.
I have an alternative - that is to put the XP CD-ROM in the drive and use a
reasonably heavy cigarette lighter to hold down the appropriate keyboard key
until SFC completes and stops asking you to endlessly insert the XP CD-ROM
and press OK.
