System file checker is asking for pro CD when I have home

I just did a clean install of Windows XP home SP2. The original CD came with
SP2. When I perform a SFC /scannow It keeps asking for the Windows XP pro SP2
CD. If I insert the original CD or even an XP home CD with SP2 on it I keep
getting the message that It can't find the files and I have to click cancel.

By the way, is there any way short of reboot to stop SFC?

If you have XP Home and it asks for your XP Pro CD, stick the CD in the
drive *first* and then type the command.

Start | Run | Type: sfc /scannow | OK

I get the same thing,
winxp home slipstreamed sp2 cd is windows install
and even with slipstreamed cd in the drive at start of sfc, sfc asks you to
insert xp-pro sp2 cd at times as well as asks at times to insert xp-home
cd,,, over and over.
I wonder exactly what sfc does when you click retry - Does it skip the
file or actually grab it from cd?

I have a slightly different problem, similar though. I have to sit there
while sfc.exe runs and I keep clicking on Retry when I get a similar
message. It runs, but I have to be there to keep clicking, clicking and
clicking. So I don't run it very often.

I have XP Pro and I uninstalled SP2. I think SP2 left too many things
behind. ;-(

Thanks everyone,

I found my problem maybe it will solve yours too.

After installing XP home I changed the drive letter of my CD drive. So I
went into the registry at:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\windows\currentVersion\setup and I changed the
sourcePath from D:\ to my current CD ROM drive letter and all went well after
that. Since I had the WinXP home CD in the drive at the time I was never
prompted again to insert the WinXP pro SP2 Cd. I don't know why it asks for
the pro disk when I have home but apperently it found what it was looking for
on my home disk. I also made this change in the middle of the SFC scan when
it was stopped asking me for the pro cd. When it was done I ran the scan
again because i clicked cancel a few times when it was looking for the pro
cd. This time i didn't get prompted once to insert the pro CD.

actually there's 2.inf files that may need a slight modification, only one
needed two instances of the word 'Professional' changed to 'Home' under
[Strings] in Fp40ext.inf on my laptop.

You may be prompted to insert a Windows XP Professional CD when you run
the System File Checker tool in Windows XP Home Edition
