System explorers

C

Chris Sambuco

I recently installed the new version of Microsoft anti-
spyware. The installer indicated a sucessful
installation and the spyware seems to work properly
except that I am unable to utilize the system explorer
features. When I go system explorers a virtically
divided window appears. The left side of the window
contains a header at the top "System Explorers". The
window is blank under the header. There are no links to
access the explorer features. The right side of the
window contains the header "About System Explorers" with
a short paragraph discribing the features and a working
link providing additional information about the features.
However, I find no way to access the features. Please
advise.

Hello Cris,

try this:

Goto: Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove programs/MSAS
then click on suport info!!!
Then click on repair!

Hello Tom:

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the repair and I
still have the same problem. Before posting my question
I completly removed all traces of MS Anti-spyware,
downloaded a new file and installed the software. I'm
wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem
with Windows XP.

Regards,

Chris

We believe we have a workaround which is better than installing the VB6 SP.
Can we have users who experience this problem try the following:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Please let me know if this is working.

Yes, I've used this response on 10 different systems at one point or another
over the past couple months and it works each time. Just had to do it again
twice tonite on two systems suffering after the latest update from MS

I don't think that a Microsoft update should cause this symptom, although a
Microsoft update after an update of a third-party product might well see
this symptom.
