System Change message

I am running Windows Defender under Windows XP Pro.
I periodically get the following message:

A system change was made by a known application.
Change Type: Application Registration.
Application: c:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe.

What causes this message and what action, if any, is needed.

Hello Ralph,

This is probably happening because you have the box checked to notify you
about "Changes made to your computer by software that is allowed to run".

What you're seeing specifically is the WinDefend service updating the
scheduled scan jobs, which is nºrmªl.
