system call failed

When I try and do a large email merge from Word to Outlook, I get a system
call failed message and not all the records get merged to the outbox.
 
Start the merge from Outlook. If you still have problems, repost with the version of Outlook for someone to troubleshoot.

After furious head scratching, system call failed asked:
