System Boot Problem

I have a laptop with Windows XP Pro which I shutdown as normal on Friday.
Today when I attempted to re-boot the system, there are no users being
displayed to log in with. What could be the cause of this problem and how
can it be fixed?

Thank you.

You may have been infected with some sort of malware or virus which disabled
user accounts. You may also have been the target of several failed login
attempts.

Try booting in safe mode (F8 at windows startup) and entering as
Administrator. Then go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer
Management -> Users & Groups and check the properties of the relevant users
to see if their accounts are disabled. Anyway I'd suggest running a full
scan with an anti-spyware, anti-trojan and anti-virus program.

Thank you for the information Sergio. I have attempted to log in as
administrator, but it will not allow me to log in.

Jaym,

Do you mean to say that the administrator user simply does not appear in the
welcome screen? Does it reject your password? Does it attempt to log in and
then goes back to the welcome screen?

Bye,
