Sysprep a machine for an enduser

I build custom pc and after im all done with all the updates and
applications, i want to have the computer setup where when the end user
starts the pc they are presented with the mini setup screen. I have tried
sysprep but the user account that i created when i first installed Xp still
exists and AVG antivirus prompts an error when the computer boots after the
mini setup. I have seen other resellers do this but dont know how they
accomplish this. I would like instructions for XP home, Pro and Vista
Distros.

thanks

Sysprep is a SID stripper and is to be used on a Domain enterprise.

Is this your intended pupose and is this the Free AVG AV ?

Dan, you'll get better results if you ask in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment and
microsoft.public.windows.vista.installation_setup. They are more
knowledgeable in this sort of thing over there, but to get you started
you should read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302577 for XP and
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc721929.aspx for Vista.

Good luck, it is a bit of a learning curve but stick with it and you'll
get there, I'm sure.

Sysprep is much more than a "SID stripper" and is intended to be used to
deploy PCs set up by OEMs, system builders, *and* enterprises, whether
or not there is a Domain involved.

I also wonder about distributing AVG in this way though, I'm not sure if
it meets their licensing / EULA.

Thanks for the clarification, sounds like you are all set as far as AVG
goes.
