SYSPREP 2.0

Kevin

I'm trying to use SYSPREP version 2.0 to prep my machine for a ghost image.

When I run the sysprep.exe is loads a GUI interface giving me three options:
1. Factory
2. Audit
3. Reseal

I'm not sure which one I should use. So I have tried all three, but every
time I select one and restart, this GUI tool pops backup. i can't get rid of
it.

So I have two questions:
1. How should I prep XP for a Ghost image?
2. How can I get rid of this GUI screeen popping up?

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
Have you created a sysprep.inf file?
Instead of double-clicking on the sysprep.exe, go to a
command prompt, change to the c:\sysprep directory and
issue the following command, or the command that suits
you - SYSPREP -MINI -QUIET -RESEAL -SHUTDOWN
The -MINI switch will look for and use your sysprep.inf
file.

As you have already read, you Reseal and Mini. Mini stands for Mini-setup
which is what does the PnP redetection. BUT do not use the PNP switch
unless you have non-PNP ISA cards. Using PNP on a machine that does not
need it will result in the machine "locking up" for about 5-10 minutes the
first time it logs on. The "lockup" is actually the AC97 audio drivers
SLOWLY reinstalling.
