Syskey -- PLEASE HELP!!

A

Anonymous

I wanted to use the syskey utility to store the startup key on removable
media. I thought I would be able to store it on a flash drive since my
computer doesn't have a floppy drive. When I checked the box to store the
key on a floppy disk, it said something about the A: drive not being
accessible, and I eventually had to use the task manager to end syskey
because the dialog wouldn't stop popping up. Now when I go into syskey, I
cannot change the setting back to "store the startup key locally". It just
keeps telling me to insert the floppy disk where the key is stored, and when
I click OK, it says that it is an invalid disk. I am afraid to turn off the
computer for fear that it is going to ask for a startup disk next time I turn
it on! Please help!

I was successfully able to use a System Restore point from before I made this
change. It worked!!

I use the belt-and-suspenders mode. Make a Restore Point.

As always, you should make sure that you have got a working system restore
point before you run any test, download or install a new game, application,
or software update, when you make changes to your computer.

Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administrator.

Good luck
