sysinfo and cpu

one a core 2 duo pc on Intel dg31Pr, , there are two xp dual boot
partitions. the one that is installed from scratch using xp pro sp2
integrated disk shows 2 cpu in sysinfo.

however the other partition behaved differently; sys info shows only one
cpu with the correct speed. The task manager does show two in performance.
this partition was restored from a ghost image of another similar PC but
different model of core 2 duo; the XP pro here is fully updated including
sp3 before imaging.

What can I do to fix this strange problem?

Repair Installation and/or SFC /SCANNOW may work for you. Essentially - you
need to get the proper HAL in the mix.

Might also just try downloading and installing the proper chipset drivers
for the motherboard. Betting you need a repair installation though.

I will try scan first.

just in case that fails to fix the problem,
any chance of fixing the problem with somehow copying the hal file from the
bare sp2 partition into the restored form image one?

Chipset/motherboard drivers may
be just enough difference to be the cause.

Download and install the correct and latest
chipset driver for your motherboard.
